Learning Objectives

13-1: Describe the importance of social and emotional learning (SEL) in school settings including the connections between SEL and academic outcomes.

13-2: Justify the need for prevention and early intervention strategies for students with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges in school settings; and compare and contrast when and how professionals (a) screen and (b) individually assess students for these challenges.

13-3: Describe how and under what circumstances professionals would teach emotional regulation, social skills, and self-management. Provide examples of each.

13-4: Delineate implications of SEL assessment and instruction for culturally and/or linguistically diverse students.
