1. What is your opinion of psychodynamic psychotherapy? To what extent is such a technique still applicable to today’s clients? If so, in what settings or in what situations would it best be applied?

2. In your opinion, specifically how do allegiance effects influence today’s psychotherapy research? If so, what are some ways in which allegiance effects could be minimized or eliminated?

3. Compared to traditional psychoanalysis or long-term psychodynamic therapy, what are the most relevant pros and cons of brief psychodynamic therapy?

4. In what ways may the concept of therapist as “blank screen” be interpreted differently based on a client’s cultural background? Could any of these potential interpretations be harmful to the therapeutic alliance?

5. Have you ever caught yourself engaging in a Freudian slip? Describe the situation. What is a possible explanation for your “slip?”

6. Do you believe that development during the psychosexual stages solidifies characteristics such as trust, control, and self-worth?
