  1. Compare and contrast the personality characteristics and qualities that are problematic or quirky versus personality disorders.  As a therapist, describe the process in making an accurate personality disorders diagnosis while considering the normative characteristics of a healthy self.

Your client diagnosed with a depressive disorder, has recently been more erratic with their behavior, describing and exhibiting challenges in their relationships.  Compare and contrast Cluster B diagnoses (Antisocial, Borderline, Histrionic and Narcissistic) in how your client may interact with you in the context of therapy.  How will you address the dual diagnosis of depression and a Cluster B Diagnosis in your treatment?

  3. A client diagnosed with major depressive disorder with psychotic features enters your office for treatment. He mentions how he has the ability to make events happen by simply thinking about them. However, he seems to be in touch with reality and produces relatively coherent speech. What might be a more accurate diagnosis? Explain your response.
