Description:  Machido studied the relationship between a person’s perception of global capitalism and where in the global structure their country of origin is located.  The author applies world systems theory to understand the differences in people’s perceptions of globalization.

Tyldum, G. (2014). Motherhood, Agency and Sacrifice in Narratives on Female Migration for Care Work. Sociology, 49(1), 56–71.

Description: Tyldum argues that female migration does not always mean the same thing to all migrants.  Using interview data she demonstrates that female migrants have different motivations for leaving and are perceived in different ways.
