Description:  McDermott and Roen pilot the use of on-line interaction to gain more insight into young people’s sexualities and potential for self-harm.  Through their pilot study they provide a means of obtaining data but also discuss the difficulties in this method and means of improvement.

Description:  Heise and Ortyl interview Pepper Schwartz on her work in the area of sociology of sex.  Specifically they address her latest work on sexual behavior of those over 50 and how sociologists study sex and sexuality.

Sandlin, J. a., & Maudlin, J. G. (2012). Consuming pedagogies: Controlling images of women as consumers in popular culture. Journal of Consumer Culture, 12(2), 175–194.

Description: Sandlin and Maudlin examine ways in which women have been represented in the media to encourage their consumption.  In addition to examining the sexist aspects of advertising they look at the intersectionality of race, class and gender.
