Define collaboration. What characteristics are associated with collaboration? Provide an example of how you would adhere to each characteristic as a classroom teacher. (Friend et al., 2010; Idol et al., 2000)

What are critical prerequisite skills for effective collaboration? Describe the six types of active listening. Why are nonverbal communication signals so important to effective communication? How can you make communication more efficient with diverse individuals? Discuss what teachers/educators can do to improve assessments and instruction for English language learners and/or culturally and linguistically diverse students. (Figueroa, 2002; Klingner, Edwards, & Dunsmore, 2010; Garcia, 2002; Ortiz & Yates, 2001; Heron & Harris, 2000; Gordon, 1980; Vaughn, Bos, & Schumm, 2013; Heron & Harris, 2000)

Define paraprofessionals and their key features. Describe their roles and responsibilities in schools. How can teachers support paraprofessionals in areas such as supervising and training? In what ways can families and communities be involved? Describe the purposes for parent–teacher conferences. How can teachers promote communication with the home? (Pugach & Johnson, 1995; Turnbull et al., 2005; Smith & Tyler, 2014; Lavoie, 2008; Turnbull et al., 2005)
