Upon completion of this chapter, the reader should be able to do the following:
3.1 Define ethics, morals, and the law.
3.2 Explain the difference between an ethical temptation and an ethical dilemma.
3.3 Articulate the main issues regarding the debate over the origin of ethics.
3.4 Articulate the principles-based and consequences-based approaches to ethics and the integrity and
compliance organizational ethics models.
3.5 Outline the ways in which organizations can create an ethical climate as well as some of the conflicts of interests (COIs) facing managers.
