  1. The way we say things makes a big difference. In this activity, try saying the same phrase with a different emphasis and note the way the meanings can change.  This website offers an activity in which you can try putting the emphasis on different words in a sentence while recording and then listen to how the meaning of the sentence changes based on changes in vocalics.
  2. Perform a search online (Google, Bing, Yahoo!, etc.) on speaker credibility. What did you find? Was it easy or difficult to find information online that matched up with the research cited in and the notes made by Duck and McMahan in the chapter? Why do you think your search was as easy or difficult as it was? Try searching using the search terms for each of the three primary and four secondary dimensions of credibility discussed in the chapter. Was this search easier or more difficult? Did you find information that supported the chapter reading?
